Wetland Restoration Design Guidelines
These restoration guidelines were developed by Phil Williams and Phyllis Faber for the Coastal Conservancy and are available online. The guidelines were developed based on twentyfive years of experience in restoring and monitoring early restoration sites, data that is now being used in second, third, and fourth generation restoration projects around San Francisco Bay’s once extensive wetlands.
Available on the Internet.
Through their work designing and monitoring tidal salt marshes in coastal areas of California and particularly San Francisco Bay over a thirty year span, Phil Williams and Phyllis Faber have developed a set of design guidelines for tidal wetlands for SF Bay. The format of these guidelines is one of question and answer. Presumably if anyone contemplating a restoration project, develops answers to each of the questions, their project will have a greater likelihood of success and fewer surprises through going by this process. |
